People's Welfare Front to hold stir against against 'incidents of intolerance'
CHENNAI: The People's Welfare Front, comprising MDMK, CPI(M), CPI, and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), today announced that it would hold a protest demonstration in Tiruchirappalli on October 31 against attacks on Dalits, freedom of expression and communal incidents.

"To condemn the increase in communal violence, attack on Dalits and on freedom of expression in Narendra Modi's regime, a protest demonstration would be held on October 31 in Tiruchirappalli," MDMK chief Vaiko said here in a statement.

He referred to the Dadri lynching, attack on a Dalit family in Haryana and a Jammu and Kashmir independent legislator over beef row, and killing of writer Kalburgi.

PWF, now an aspiring political third front in Tamil Nadu, was founded to fight for people's issues on an apolitical basis.

Muslim outfit, Manithaneya Makkal Katchi however deserted the front later. The party had said it was not in favour of changing the front into a political alliance.
