People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration unfair to NC, alleges Omar-led panel

Omar Abdullah-led National Conference Provincial Committee has lashed out at the People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration, which is headed by his father Farooq Abdullah, for treating unfairly the party in the political amalgam of PAGD.

In a meeting convened here on Wednesday, J&KNC provincial committee unanimously resolved to fight on all 90 seats.

Former J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah urged people that the 'only way to protect J&K's identity is to first register and cast votes in huge numbers.' The statement has put a question mark on the unity within the PAGD and is likely to impact it's decisions if and when assembly elections are conducted in J&K.


"The participants of the provincial committee denounced the unfair treatment meted out to JKNC in PAGD. They demanded immediate course corection from PAGD constituents," J&K NC said.

"The participants expressed dismay over the recent statements, audio jingles and speeches made by some of the constituents of the PAGD targetting JKNC.

The PAGD, an amalgam of regional parties in Kashmir, formed in October 2020 to strive for the restoration of statehood and special status of J&K. The NC president Farooq Abdullah leads the amalgam and People's Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti is the it's vice president.
