The India China Economic and Cultural Council (ICEC) is an organization of Indian business leaders, professionals and intellectuals engaged in evolving closer relations between India and People's Republic of China.


It believes in promotion of people-to-people contact to achieve growing trade and cultural interactivity ultimately leading to mutual benefit of the two nations. Abid Husain is the chairman of the council while P S Deodhar is the president.

The ICEC believes in an India plus China philosophy because only such a partnership will help in creating a strong global positioning of both the countries. The council works relentlessly to ensure full support and participation by both the Chinese and Indian governments.

ICEC's theme is India Plus China rather than India versus China. ICEC Council promotes improved bilateral media exposure and rapid growth in Sino-Indian tourism. The council firmly believes that this will facilitate business between India and China on a firmer basis since commonality of life style is the prime mover of business growth in the current global scenario.

The ICEC council brings together key players and planners from both the countries on a common platform to brain-storm in various aspects of mutual interest, especially related to business and culture. It thrives to create maximum exposure to positive Indo-Sino developments and create an impeccable bridge of exchange for knowledge, technology, culture and of course trade.

The council is committed to enhancing economic ties between India and China and to concretize closer co-operation between the two countries. It has been set up to develop economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries and enhance it by bringing together the people of the two countries.

It is trying to bring together Chinese and Indian entrepreneurs together to form mutually beneficial partnerships, joint ventures, seek exchange of technologies and witness greater mutual FDI flow to boost the bilateral trade in the future. it will help develop a culture bridge through wider bilateral media interaction and growth in tourism leading to wider civic society interaction.
