People should compel government to roll-back rail fare hike: CPI

Condemning the UPA government's decision to hike railway fare, CPI today asked people to resist this "onslaught" and compel its roll-back.

BHUBANESWAR: Condemning the UPA government's decision to hike railway fare, CPI today asked people to resist this "onslaught" and compel its roll-back.

"UPA-2 government has taken the decision to increase the railway fare in most atrocious manner. The hike is highest for sleeper class and suburban trains. This will hit the common man the most," CPI said in a resolution adopted at its national executive meeting being held here.

"The national executive call upon the people to resist this onslaught in all manners and force the government to roll-back the fare hike," the CPI resolution said.

"Anti-people measures like rail fare hike will raise inflation further. The government has not only failed to check price rise but also taking steps which will push inflation further," CPI national council secretary and MP, Gurdas Dasgupta told reporters.
