NEW DELHI: On the eve of the Winter session of Parliament, Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu today said opposition must always have its say irrespective of its strength in the House, but the government must have its way in the end.

He also urged the parties to be patient during proceedings to ensure smooth functioning of the House.

"I am of the opinion that the opposition must have its say. They must express their point of view and the government must be patient enough to hear their point of view and respond also.

"I also have a view that the opposition must always have its say irrespective of the numbers but at the end of the day, the government must have its way," he told Rajya Sabha TV.

He urged the treasury and the opposition to ensure that the House is run peacefully and debates are held in a dignified manner "so that the image and prestige of Parliament is enhanced".
