People defy NSCN (I-M) ban, join ACAUT rally
Large number of civil society activists and people gathered at City Tower defying a ban by NSCN (I-M) on ACAUT.
Organised by ACAUT, the rally was peacefully held under tight security cover while all shops and business establishments remained closed till noon with new traffic regulations enforced to facilitate the rally.
Speakers drawn from various civil organisations including ACAUT, Naga Mothers' Association and Naga Council Dimapur addressed the gathering.
The rally voiced anger over unprecedented corruption and multiple taxations practiced by both government workers as well as Naga national workers.
It demanded that the state government clean up its administration starting from the Chief Minister's Office so there was accountability, transparency and good governance.
It also demanded underground groups to unite themselves, streamline the tax system and not overburden the common people.
Popular writer and retired IAS officer, Khekiye K Sema extending his solidarity, called for 'Rule of Law' in the state and also proposed to hold another Naga Plebiscite like the 1951 one if such activities continued.
