GUWAHATI: BJP leader and Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein today announced that chief minister Pema Khandu will be the face of the party in 2019 assembly polls in the state.

Mein, while speaking in Mandal Coordination Meeting of BJP in Chongkham Assembly Constituency, asked the party workers to gear up for the ensuing elections asking everyone to be in election mode.

He said that the coming elections will be fought with Pema Khandu as the chief ministerial face and that there should be no confusion on that front. He also informed that the BJP state chief Tapir Gao will be the face of the party in the parliamentary elections from Eastern Arunachal.

He said, "The developmental landscape of the North East has completely changed."

Gao cleared the air regarding the National People's Party (NPP) saying that the BJP has no alliance with that party and that it will go solo to fight all 60 assembly and two parliamentary seats.

"The alliances with NPP in some North Eastern states were all post poll alliances. Though he said the party was under North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) but it does not amount to being political allies at all levels and stages", Gao added.
