Governor Tathagata Roy hurriedly summoned the day-long session of the Assembly late last night asking Khandu to prove his majority on the floor of the House.

GUWAHATI: The Pema Khandu government on Wednesday passed the floor test, with 44 Congress members and two independents voting for Khandu and 11 BJP MLAs opposing him.

Chief Minister Khandu submitted to floor test in a hurriedly convened assembly session and moved the motion, "This house expresses its confidence in the council of ministers", which was seconded by former chief minister Nabam Tuki.

Deputy speaker Tenzing Norbu Thongdok was unanimously elected as the 11th Speaker of the Arunachal Pradesh legislative assembly.
