PDP threatens to launch agitation over delay in ULB polls

Lambasting the Jammu and Kashmir govt for its failure to conduct Urban Local Bodies elections since 2010, opposition PDP today threatened to come on streets if the polls were delayed any further.

JAMMU: Lambasting the Jammu and Kashmir government for its failure to conduct Urban Local Bodies elections since 2010, opposition PDP today threatened to come on streets if the polls were delayed any further.

"We will launch an agitation and come on streets if the ULBs elections were delayed further," Peoples Democratic Party spokesperson Sardar Rangil Singh told reporters here today.

The ULB elections were due in the month of February 2010 but this government has been delaying these elections with one or the other pretext to continue its control over such democratic institutions through undemocratic means, he said.

Singh said PDP had already announced to hold demonstrations at all district headquarters against failure of the government on all fronts.

"In the days to come PDP would take this fight on the streets to foil any attempt of the coalition government to capture democratic institutions," he said.
