PCPA withdraws blockade ahead of Mamata rally
Just ahead of Mamata Banerjee's rally in Midnapore town on Wednesday, the Peoples' Committee Against Police Atrocities (PCPA) has withdrawn its call for an indefinite roadblock in Jangalmahal.
PCPA’s move is being seen by the ruling CPM as a ploy to enable the Trinamool to make its Wednesday rally a success.
Trinamool too expects a huge turnout at Ms Banerjee’s rally with the PCPA’s decision to abandon its agitation.
It is learnt that West Bengal chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, who met Union home minister P Chidambaram, in Delhi on Tuesday, reiterated his claim that the Maoists and Trinamool were working jointly against CPM and Trinamool was encouraging Maoists to kill CPM activists.
The PCPA is considered the frontal organisation of the outlawed CPI (Maoist).
