BHUBANESWAR: Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik today said his government has plans to augment manpower of police stations and encourgage the personnel to use latest technical and electronic gadgets in providing better policing to the citizens.

"Agumentation of manpower in police stations, strengthening PCR sytem, revamping traffic management, and use of technical and electronic gadgets in policing are some of the aspects under active consideration of the state government," Patnaik said while addressing the Raising Day of the commissionerate of police, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack here.

Stating that commisonerate police has been successfully rendering quality service to the citzens, Patnaik, who is also the Home Minister, claimed that its quick detecion of crimes, and proactive measures for the prevention have helped the people in general.

The Mahila police staions have been instrumental in encouraging women to approach the police with their grievances freely and fearlessly, he said, adding, police have been mandated to adopt zero-tolerance towards offence against women.
