Patil travels in Metro; reviews security
Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil on Wednesday reviewed the security arrangements in Delhi Metro as part of government's efforts to tighten security in public transport system.
Patil travelled from Central Secretariat Metro stations to Kashmere Gate, personally saw huge crowds which travels everyday and took first hand account of the security arrangements.
He also travelled to Operations Control Centre at Shastri Park Metro stations and reviewed the security in the entire network of the Delhi Metro.
The Home Minister also interacted with officials of CISF, responsible for guarding the network.
Patil was accompanied by DMRC chairman-cum-managing Director E Sreedharan, Director General of CISF R K Das, Delhi Police Commissioner Y S Dadwal and other senior officials.
Sreedharan explained to the Home Minister the operational issues and future construction plans of the Metro.
The transport system yesterday added three more stations in its existing network of 59 stations under Phase-I before 15 more stations come up on Delhi's Metro map in another two months.
Eighty more stations will be added to the Delhi Metro when it completes its Phase-II connecting satellite towns Noida, Gurgaon and Ghaziabad by 2010.
