Patil meets Deshmukh; Raj may be arrested

: The Union Home Ministry is holding a meeting with Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilas Rao Deshmukh for "not taking action" against Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray for triggering violence in the metropolis.

NEW DELHI: The Union Home Ministry is holding a meeting with Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilas Rao Deshmukh for "not taking action" against Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray for triggering violence in the metropolis.

Deshmukh is in Delhi to report on the attacks against north Indians.

Shivraj Patil had earlier summoned Deshmukh. He has reportedly urged the chief minister to take strict action against Raj for his role in targeting North Indians in Mumbai.

Shivraj Patil is also said to have sought a report from the chief minister in this regard.

Raj Thackeray could be arrested after Deshmukh's return to Mumbai, according to sources.

The Congress is under immense pressure from the UPA allies to arrest the MNS chief.
