Paternity row: HC notice to lab for DNA test on N D Tiwari

Delhi HC issued notice to laboratory on modalities to conduct DNA test on N D Tiwari to ascertain the plea of 31-year-old man claiming to be his biological son.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court today issued a notice to Hyderabad-based laboratory seeking its response on modalities to conduct DNA test on veteran Congress leader N D Tiwari to ascertain the plea of a 31-year-old man claiming to be his biological son.

Joint Registrar Deepak Garg has sought a response on April 20, the next date of hearing, from the Centre for DNA, Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD) which was recently asked by Justice Gita Mittal to conduct the test on 85-year-old Tiwari.

The response of the laboratory was required as to how it would go for the test and how much time it will take in ascertaining the outcome, Garg said.

The Joint Registrar would record evidence for enabling the regular court to decide the plea of Rohit Shekhar that he be declared the son of veteran Congress leader.

Earlier, Justice Mittal had modifed an earlier order by asking CDFD, instead of Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), to conduct the DNA test.
