Patel community's OBC demand unnerves Gujarat government

GANDHINAGAR: The Patel community has increased its pressure on the state government, demanding reservation for it under the OBC category. The Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti staged three rallies across Gandhinagar, Bagasara in Amreli District and Himmatnagar in Sabarkantha district on Monday over the demand.

While few thousand members of the community took out a silent rally in Gandhinagar, around 12,000 people attended a rally in Himmatnagar.

Addressing the rally, Hardik Patel, the convener of PASS asked political leaders irrespective of their affiliation to resign from their parties and lend support to the demand for reservation for the community. Already PAAS has organised more than 15 rallies across north Gujarat earlier with one in Visnagar on July 23.
