GUWAHATI: What is seen as first major private sector investment proposal for mint fresh BJP led government in Assam, Yoga guru Baba Ramdev's Patanjali Ayurved is likely to set up processing unit in the state.

Ramdev’s close aide Acharya Balkrishna on Sunday met Assam chief minister, Sarbananda Sonowal and has evinced interest in setting up manufacturing and processing unit of different agricultural and medicinal plants and herbs.

Balkrishna said, “Assam has huge potential in agriculture and medicinal plants and herbs. We have expressed out interest to set up in Assam. This will benefit the farmers”

He said, “We are running a dairy in Chirang in Bodoland in Assam and a school.”

Militant outfit anti-talk faction of the United Liberation Front of Asom (Ulfa) had earlier raised suspicion on Patanjali’s expansion in Assam.

Ulfa chairman Dr. Abhijit Asom in a statement emailed to media recently said that there is some ulterior motive in Ramdev getting over 3800 hectares of land in Chirang, which is sixth scheduled area under the India constitution.
