Passenger trains suspended during night in Maoist-hit routes

Passenger trains in Maoist-hit Kharagpur-Rourkela and Kharagpur-Adra routes will continue to remain suspended during the night from 10 pm to 5 am till June 7 due to security reasons, officials said on Thursday.

BHUBANESWAR: Passenger trains in Maoist-hit Kharagpur-Rourkela and Kharagpur-Adra routes will continue to remain suspended during the night from 10 pm to 5 am till June 7 due to security reasons, officials said on Thursday.

Accordingly, some trains have either been diverted or rescheduled under the changed arrangement, East Coast Railway officials said.

The suspension was announced on May 28 after the Gyaneswari Express disaster in West Bengal.

New Delhi-Puri Purushottam Express on arriving at Gomoh will be diverted through Gomoh-Adra-Madinapur-Kharagpur instead of Gomoh-Bokaro-Prulia-Chandil-TATA-Kharagpur, the officials said.

Puri-Haridwar Utkal Express leaving Puri and Haridwar- Puri on arriving Jharsuguda will be diverted through Jharsuguda-Sambalpur-Cuttack instead of Jharsuguda-Tata- Kharagpur-Cuttack till June 6, they said.

Howrah-Koraput-Howrah Express will run through Howrah- Kharagpur-Bhadrak-Anugul-Sambalpur instead of Howrah-Kharagpur -Tata-Jharsuguda-Sambalpur.
