Parties using 'Brand Anna' for political gain will face legal action: Anna Hazare

Anna Hazare has announced that his team will not campaign for or against any political party in the upcoming civic elections in Maharashtra.

MUMBAI: Anna Hazare has announced that his team will not campaign for or against any political party in the upcoming civic elections in Maharashtra.

He also said that he will sue any party or individual who uses his name in the poll campaign for electoral gain.

Speaking to reporters at Ralegan Siddhi, Hazare reiterated that he will soon be taking up a nation-wide tour to raise awareness for establishing a strong Lokpal and his team will try to meet as many supporters as possible to prepare a data base.

The 195 civic bodies in the state will go to polls on December 8, while major municipal body elections will be held in February 2012.

The social activist said he will be away from the state before the polls but his team will keep an eye on political activities to see if his name is being used by anybody.

"If the Congress-led UPA government does not bring in a satisfactory Lokpal bill then we will be forced to re-launch our agitation," he said.
