Parties trying to woo people with slogans ahead of polls

With a view to win the upcoming Assembly elections in the state, many political parties are trying to lure the people with slogans having no respect for national integration.

SRINAGAR: With a view to win the upcoming Assembly elections in the state, many political parties are trying to lure the people with slogans having no respect for national integration, Jammu and Kashmir Social Welfare Minister Abdul Gani Vakil said today.

"such slogans lacked respect for national integration and the interest of common man," he said while addressing a public gathering at Kangan in Ganderbal district here.

Without identifying any parties, he said "with the elections scheduled to be held later in the year, many parties have started selling dreams to keep the people in a make-belief world to win elections."

He also cautioned people "to be vigilant against politics of exploitation."

Vakil, a senior vice president of JKPCC said "anti-peace and anti-development elements are bent upon destabilizing the peace process between India and Pakistan."

"Period of emotional exploitation and regional politics is over. There is no takers for hatred and violence," he added.
