GUWAHATI: Political parties are taking poll positions in Manipur which is likely to be held early next year.

Human rights activist Irom Sharmila has started campaign for newly floated political outfit People’s Resurgence and Justice Alliance (PRJA). She addressed a political conference at Khurai Assembly constituency recently. Sharmila is likely to contest Khurai constituency and Thoubal.

Manipur Chief Minister, O Ibobi Singh won from Thoubal. Sharmila’s main electoral plank will be removal of Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA). Sharmila said she will extensively use the bicycle for campaigning.

With BJP’s social media volunteers playing a major role in scripting the party’s win in Assam assembly polls, the BJP has readied a dedicated team of volunteers to attack the Congress government in the polls.

Recently, BJP’s social media volunteers’ meet was held in the state. It was attended by party’s national general secretary Ram Madhav. He said social media volunteers will ensure that Congress is defeated.

Convener of the newly formed front, Moirangthem Nara Singh of CPI said: “Other like-minded political parties are welcome to join the front. The front has announced that it will contest maximum seats in the hill and valley.”
