Participation in Parliament does not guarantee ticket

Congress MPs who have been re-nominated are those who had even lower participation in Parliament than their fellow party MPs who did not receive a ticket.



Have Congress and BJP been considering an MP’s performance in Parliament while choosing candidates for the Lok Sabha elections? Evidently, not quite.

Both parties re-nominated sitting MPs who barely pariticipated in Parliament. PRS Legislative Research used four parameters: Participation in debates, introducing a private-member bill, asking questions and attending Parliament. BJP MPs fare better than Congress MPs.
