The Rs 2,250 crore project is delayed by a year and NBCC is expected to complete it by 2020. The International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC) is expected to be one-stop venue for international and domestic events, summits, conferences and high level ministerial meetings.
The mega convention centre will be 32.4 meter tall landmark building with a capacity of 7000 people in single format as well as amphitheatre with 3000 people, and would be five time larger than Vigyan Bhawan.
“We will handover three exhibition hall by November 10 and rest of it will be handed over by July 2020,” said an NBCC official.
The convention centre will include 22 meeting rooms, special areas for high-level and international dignitaries and a rooftop helipad with elevator access for VIPs. The exhibition segment of the integrated centre shall have seven new modern exhibition halls alongwith prefunction area with exhibition space of 1 lakh sqmtr.
