Parliament would pass bill for women safety: PM

"While more women are now joining the formal economy as a result, a corollary of these developments has been the heightened risk to their safety and security," Singh said .

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has said Parliament would pass the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Bill, 2012 to cope with increasing violence against women.

"While more women are now joining the formal economy as a result, a corollary of these developments has been the heightened risk to their safety and security," Singh said .

He announced schemes mooted for rape victims like national financial assistance, support services, women's national helpline and "One Stop Crisis Centre" in 100 public hospitals under the aegis of the National Mission for Empowerment of Women.
