Sources said in Lok Sabha, regular work like Question Hour and Zero Hour are likely to be suspended to hold the special sitting. All parties will speak on the occasion.

Parliament to hold special sitting for Quit India anniversary
NEW DELHI: A special sitting will be held separately in both Houses of Parliament on August 9. to discuss the 75th anniversary of the Quit India Movement, where all parties will express their views and a resolution will be passed affirming commitment to the nation.

Sources said in Lok Sabha, regular work like Question Hour and Zero Hour are likely to be suspended to hold the special sitting. All parties will speak on the occasion.

A Sankalp or affirmation to the nation will be expressed through a resolution to be read out by Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.

Rajya Sabha is in the process of chalking out its programme for the occasion but the broad outline will be similar to that of the Lok Sabha.

Parliament had earlier held a two-day session on the making of the Indian Constitution in which the contribution of its drafting chairperson B R Ambedkar was highlighted.
