NEW DELHI: Parliament today congratulated ISRO scientists for successfully putting India's sixth navigation satellite into the intended orbit.

With the successful launch of the satellite yesterday, India has taken one more step forward in the navigational satellite system and has reached at par with the US-based Global Positioning System (GPS).

"Our space scientists have made us proud," said Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan amid thumping of benches by members.

In Rajya Sabha, Chairman Hamid Ansari said the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System, IRNSS-1F adding yet another precious milestone in the success story of the Indian space history.

"The credit for this landmark achievement undoubtedly, goes to our scientific community, particularly those working with ISRO," he said while congratulating the scientists, engineers and technicians, who were associated with the project.

Ansari said he hoped that "they will continue to scale greater heights and make the country proud of their achievements".

In a textbook launch, ISRO Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV C32) blasted off into cirrus (high altitude) clouds from the second launch pad at 4.01 PM at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre yesterday.
