CHANDIGARH: The Shiromani Akali Dal legislatures have unanimously elected Parkash Singh Badal as their leader, paving the way for his swearing-in as chief minister of Punjab for a record fifth term.

The swearing-in ceremony of new government would be held at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Yaadgaar at Chhaparchiri in Ajitgarh district on March 14.

The party formally gave credit to its president Sukhbir Singh Badal for chalking out detailed winning strategy in the recently held assembly elections.

Badal Sr. exhorted the newly elected MLAs to accelerate the ongoing development process in the state. He said that the secular image of the alliance got strengthened in the polls and more than two dozen new faces had got chance to serve the public.

Giving credit to transparent recruitment of 1.5 lakh youth in the government services during last five years by various departments, he said the people of Punjab appreciated this and the same policy would be continued in the next five years.

Party president Sukhbir Singh Badal also stressed on continuing the development model.
