Bihar SIR: Papers of 98.2% voters in; 1.2 lakh claims & objections filed
The Election Commission of India announced that Bihar's special intensive revision (SIR) is progressing well, with 98.2% of individuals submitting required documents. Over 1.2 lakh claims and objections have been received for electoral roll inclus...

Over 1.2 lakh 'claims and objections' have also been received by the ECI machinery, seeking inclusion/exclusion in the final electoral roll of the state for eligible/ineligible electors.
"Thus, from June 24 to August 24, 2025, that is in 60 days, 98.2% persons have submitted their documents. This means an average of about 1.64% per day. There are still eight days to go till September 1 with just 1.8% electors remaining for submission of the documents. The exercise to collect their documents with the help of BLOs and volunteers is going on. Thus, just like collection of enumeration forms, work related to collection of documents is also likely to be completed before time," the poll panel said.
It added that in keeping with the SIR orders of June 24, verification of documents is also being done concurrently by the concerned 243 EROs and 2,976 AEROs in Bihar.
The Supreme Court has also last week asked ECI to accept Aadhaar as a valid document besides the 11 already prescribed ones for the aggrieved 65 lakh persons who have not made it to the draft electoral roll.
Alongside, over 3.2 lakh new electors who have attained the age of 18 by July 1 or will do so by October 1 have also submitted their Form 6 and declaration for inclusion in Bihar's final electoral roll.
Of the 7.24 crore electors in the draft rolls, 0.16% claims and objections have been received so far, the ECI said.
Only 10 such applications have come through booth level agents (BLAs) appointed by the 12 registered political parties in the state -- all from CPI(ML).
As many as 1.21 L claims/ objections have come from electors themselves from within their constituency. 12,552 of these have been disposed of so far.
The claims and objections period allows electors to make corrections in their particulars as reflected in the draft electoral roll. It is also a period in which those who had not submitted the requisite documents with enumeration forms, can do so.
"The SIR of Bihar is on schedule. The decision on all the claims and objections have been received, and verification of eligibility documents is to be completed by the concerned EROs/AEROs by September 25, 2025 and after final checking, the final electoral rolls are to be published on September 30, 2025," the ECI stated. 2025", the ECI stated.
