Pankaja Munde says censor board needed for regulating TV serials to reduce crime against women
Maharashtra's Women and Child Development Minister Pankaja Munde wants a Regulatory authority for TV serials and the Internet. The Minister believes that the TV serials as well as the internet play a part in the rising crimes against women.

On Wednesday the Minister while speaking to the media said that there was a need for a censor board like authority for TV and to regulate content in the Internet. " There is a censor board for films, similarly we should have a similar authority to regulate content in TV serials as well as Internet. We have to think of such measures in the light of the rising crime against women."said Pankaja.

According to the Minister due to such programmes and content in the Internet women are being looked in a different light. " We have come to a situation where a father is raping his own daughter... We in the government have to think deeply to find a solution for this. Punishments for crime against women should be made more severe"said Munde.

She also added that time has also come where girls need to be taught self defence to protect themselves.
