Panel to probe caste clash at Huliwana village
MANDYA: The ' Janapara Kriya Vedike' (a pro-people's organisation) has formed a fact-finding committee to probe the recent clash between Dalits and upper caste people at Huliwana village that broke out following an inter-caste marriage by two consenting adults.

The committee, comprising several progressive thinkers and writers, would visit the village and examine reasons for the clash, in which some Dalits and policemen were injured, Dalit Sangharsh Samiti (DSS) leader Guruprasad Keregodu and others told reporters here last night.

Writers K S Bhagwan and Bhumi Gowda, progressive thinker H L Keshavamurthy, Yogesh Master (author of the controversial Kannada novel 'Dhundi') and others will be in the panel, he said.

"We will submit the panel's report to the Deputy Commissioner of Mandya for suitable action," Keregodu added.

Mandya District Exploited Classes Forum leader Puttankaiah, Bahujan Samaj Party leader Krishnamurthy, Santoshkumar, Santosh, Krishna, Lakshman, and Kumari were present.
