Panel to look into harassment complaint at Asiatic Society

NEW DELHI: The Asiatic Society at Kolkata has constituted an internal complaints committee to enquire into the charges of sexual harassment filed by a minority woman against another employee, Rajya Sabha was informed today.

Union Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma replied "yes" to a question on whether any enquiry committee has been constituted in the case of allegation of sexual harassment of a minority woman at the Society.

"The Asiatic Society, Kolkata has constituted an internal complaints committee as per the extant central government guidelines for enquiry into cases of allegation of sexual harassment," he said.

The committee comprises eight members, the minister added.
