Panchkula court posts hearing in former Dera manager's murder case on October 27

PANCHKULA: A special CBI court, hearing final arguments in the case related to the murder of former Dera Sacha Sauda manager Ranjit Singh, allegedly involving sect chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, today posted the case for October 27.

The disgraced cult leader, lodged in Rohtak's Sunaria jail after his conviction in a rape case, appeared via video- conferencing in the court of judge Jagdeep Singh.

The arguments in the case were held for about an hour, CBI counsel H P S Verma said.

The court adjourned the case for October 27, he said.

Ram Rahim Singh has been named as the main conspirator in the Ranjit Singh murder case. Besides Ram Rahim Singh, the other accused in the case include Krishan Lal, Jasbir Singh, Sabdil Singh and Indersen.

Former Dera manager Ranjit Singh was shot dead in 2002. He was murdered for his suspected role in the circulation of the anonymous letter, narrating how women were being sexually exploited by the sect head at the Dera headquarters in Sirsa.

The special CBI court is also hearing the journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati murder case. Chhatrapati was shot at in October 2002 after a newspaper owned by him, 'Poora Sach', published an anonymous letter narrating how women were being sexually exploited by the sect head at the Dera headquarters.
