Panaji bypoll: Congress candidate Surendra Furtado files nomination
PANAJI: Congress candidate Surendra Furtado today filed his nomination for the Panaji Assembly seat bye-election to be held on February 13.

The bypoll was necessitated following resignation of local legislator Manohar Parrikar, who took up assignment as Union Defence Minister.

Furtado, Mayor of Corporation of City of Panaji, was accompanied by Leader of Opposition Pratapsingh Rane, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee chief Luizinho Faleiro and others when he filed the nomination before the presiding officer.

"I am contesting the election to develop Panaji which is currently in a state of neglect," Furtado said.

He said that Parrikar had not paid attention to the development of the constituency.

"We will complete all the works which are due in the constituency," he said.
