Palghar locals observe 'black day' over proposed cargo-handling port
Residents of Palghar observed "Black Day" on Monday to register their protest on the proposed cargo-handling port in the taluka.

Members of the Sangarasha Samiti and locals, on the first anniversary of the hearing for the port (to come up in Nandgaon at Palghar) took out a protest morcha on the occassion and termed it as a "Black Day".
It was on the same day last year a public hearing was held to get peoples' view on the proposed port to be built by JSW Infrastructure Ltd.
People from villages of Nandgaon, Alewadi, Navapur, Murbhe, Pam, Tembhi and Kolwade as well as from the MIDC area participated in the protest morcha.
Local MP Baliram Jadhav, MLA Vilas Tare, General Secrtary of the Maharashtra Macchimar Kruti Samiti Ramkrishna Tandel, among others led the morcha.
Jadhav told newsmen during the morcha that a meeting would be held in the office of the Thane Additional Collector on October 16, to discuss this issue further.
