Pakistani national shot dead by BSF; arms recovered

A Pakistani national was allegedly shot dead by BSF officials while another managed to escape after an encounter at the Indo-Pak border.

AMRITSAR: A Pakistani national was allegedly shot dead by BSF officials while another managed to escape after an encounter at the Indo-Pak border here after which a huge amount of drugs, arms and ammunition were recovered.

The encounter took place at Khemkaran village, nearly 45 kilometers away from Amritsar, when a BSF night patrolling party observed some suspicious movements at the Indo-Pak border late night yesterday, a BSF spokesperson said today.

On being watched closely, it was found that two Pakistani nationals had entered into Indian territory, who fired gun shots at the night patrolling party when they were asked to surrender.

The unit in retaliation fired twenty rounds of fire following which one Pakistani intruder was dead and another managed to escape, he said.

During frisking, 13 kilogram heroin worth Rs 65 crore in the international market, a 9 mm caliber pistol, 10 live cartridges along with two magazines, one kilogram opium and fake Indian currencies were recovered from the unidentified dead Pakistani national, he added.
