Pakistani helicopter arrives to evacuate Sri Lankan team

LAHORE: A Pakistani air force helicopter landed at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium on Tuesday to evacuate members of the Sri Lankan cricket team following a deadly ambush, an AFP reporter said.

Members of the Sri Lankan cricket squad were approaching the military aircraft, said the correspondent.

The Pakistani authorities said they would provide helicopters to evacuate the Sri Lankan team from the cricket ground to an air base, from where they are scheduled to return home immediately.
