JAMMU: Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire once again by targeting troops in forward area along International Border in Jammu district with small weapons, prompting BSF troops to retaliate.

"Pakistan rangers resorted to firing by small weapons along the IB in Pindi border belt in R S Pura sector of Jammu district this morning," a BSF officer said.

Indian troops guarding the border replied effectively, he said adding that no causality was reported in the exchanges.

This is the second incident of ceasefire violation in July. On July 1, Pakistani troops resorted to heavy firing by automatic and small weapons on Indian posts along the Line of Control in Mendhar forward areas of Poonch district.

In June, Pakistan violated ceasefire five times along LoC and IB in Jammu region.

The army is deployed on the LoC by both countries in Jammu and Kashmir, while the Border Security Force guards the IB on the Indian side and the Pakistan Rangers on the other.
