JAMMU: Pakistani Rangers today violated the ceasefire by resorting to brief firing with small arms on Border Out Posts (BoPs) along the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Samba districts of the state.

"There was firing of one to two rounds by Pak Rangers on BoPs along IB in Ramgarh sector of Samba district and three to four rounds in Arnia sector of Jammu district this morning," a BSF spokesman said.

BSF troops guarding the borderline with Pakistan maintained calm and did not retaliate, the spokesman said.

As many as 11 people have been killed and over 90 others injured in shelling and firing by Pakistani troops during first fortnight of October, triggering migration of over 32,000 people from border areas of Jammu, Kathua and Samba districts.
