Pakistan 'terror boat' video released; shows crew on board blew vessel up
The incident happened on December 31, 2014, and the government had claimed it had foiled another 26/11-type attack.

NEW DELHI: Burning images of the infamous Pakistani terror boat hit television screens on Friday as defence ministry released the official video of the incident that had sparked a controversy after a senior official of the Coast Guard was caught saying that the boat was 'blown up' on his orders.
The latest video shows the boat exploding itself, which conformed to the government stand that the Pak crew in the vessel “laden with explosives” had blown the boat up after being surrounded by Coast Guard.
The incident happened on December 31, 2014, and the government had claimed it had foiled another 26/11-type attack. But several news reports emerged later that questioned the official claim and hinted it could have been a case of smuggling.
Watch video:
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar had insisted it was a Pak-sponsored terror operation and that the boat was blown up by the crew, but the government was left red-faced when videos emerged of a Coast Guard DIG claiming he had given the orders to blow the boat up.
On Friday, a few hours before the video was released, the Pakistan Foreign Office stated that law-enforcement agencies had initiated a probe to look at the incident and asked India to clearly examine the matter.
