Pakistan parliament's anti-India resolution an 'act of desperation': BJP
NEW DELHI: The passing of an anti-India resolution by the Pakistani parliament was an "act of desperation" and the result of the neighbouring country's isolation by the world community, BJP today said.

"It's an obvious sign of desperation," said BJP general secretary Rajiv Pratap Rudy in reaction to the resolution which was passed yesterday by Pakistan's National Assembly.

Rudy said that Pakistan had recently raised the Kashmir issue in the UN General Assembly but did not get any response from the international community.

"In this scenario, it is clearly evident that Pakistan has been isolated in the world community and that its desperate attempt to make Kashmir an international issue has failed miserably.

"It's an obvious reaction and an outcome of the recent frustration. The international isolation of Pakistan by the world community has caused this absurd reaction," Rudy said.

The said resolution, which was passed unanimously by Pakistan parliament, alleges "unprovoked and indiscriminate" ceasefire violations by India and asks the government to seek UN's intervention to resolve the Kashmir issue.

The resolution, moved by Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's Adviser on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz, states that the National Assembly condemns Indian ceasefire violations along the Line of Control and the International Border.

It said that 13 Pakistani nationals have been killed in cross-border exchanges of fire since Sept. 13.

Meanwhile, referring to the recent talks between US President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rudy said that the two had spoken about flushing terrorists out of their safe havens.

The matter of "joint and concerted efforts" to dismantle safe havens of terror and criminal networks like LeT, Jaish-e- Mohammed and al-Qaeda was also discussed, he added.
