Pakistan militants destroy NATO vehicles: Police

PESHAWAR: Masked gunmen attacked a NATO supply depot in northwest Pakistan early Saturday, destroying 11 trucks and 13 containers bound for international troops in Afghanistan, police said.

The attackers struck before dawn, setting the vehicles ablaze, local police officer Fida Mohammad told AFP.

Firefighters managed to save another 19 vehicles after the attack, the latest in a series of increasingly sophisticated raids by Taliban militants on terminals outside the city of Peshawar.

Security had been increased following a huge attack last weekend in which hundreds of trucks were destroyed, but Mohammad said it was difficult to protect the whole area around the city, where 13 NATO terminals are located.
