Pakistan captures 27 Indian fishermen, seizes 6 boats

"Pakistani officials have apprehended 27 Indian fishermen and seized half a dozen boats off Zakhau coast near Jamnagar in Gujarat."

AHMEDABAD: Pakistani officials have apprehended 27 Indian fishermen and seized half a dozen boats off Zakhau coast near Jamnagar in Gujarat, a fishermen's body said today.

National Fish Workers Forum (NFWF) Secretary Manish Lodhari told PTI here that Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) captured the fishermen and their boats on Saturday.

The fishermen, majority of whom belonged to Diu near Junagadh, had allegedly strayed into international waters while going for the catch, Lodhari said.

India and Pakistan frequently arrest each other's fishermen on charges of violating their respective exclusive economic zones.

Lodhari said the Forum has sought a concrete solution to this problem but the Pakistani authorities were not cooperating and allowing boats from both countries to fish in international waters.
