ISLAMABAD: Pakistan today briefed P-5 and EU envoys on the visit of Indian Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar to Islamabad this week, describing the trip as a step in the right direction.

The visit on 3 March created hope for revival of talks between Pakistan and India.

FO said that Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry gave a detailed briefing to envoys of the EU and P-5 -- China, France, Russia, the UK and the US -- on the talks held.

Chaudhry termed "the visit as a step in the right direction" and said they "covered bilateral and regional issues of mutual concern and interest".

The Foreign Secretary also stressed the importance of maintaining sustained and structured dialogue to carry forward the relationship.

The envoys expressed satisfaction on the development.
