Pakistan-backed hackers target Indian military websites, databases

Pakistan-sponsored hacker groups have been trying to breach several Indian military websites and databases, with Indian cyber agencies working to neutralise the threat. It is learnt that renewed efforts were made by at least two cyber attack groups this week, with some military-linked websites, including those of schools, defaced.

In what is being seen as highly provocative, the cyber groups have even attempted to leave messages mocking the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. Sources said that groups such as 'Cyber Group HOAX1337' and 'National Cyber Crew' have been trying to breach Indian military websites.

"There have been repeated attempts by hackers operating from Pakistan to attack websites having linkages to children, veterans and other innocent people," sources said, adding that continuous unethical attempts were being made by Pakistan to provoke the Indian armed forces and were testing their restraint and patience.


They added the attacks were part of a broader pattern of provocation by Pakistan that has long waged terrorism and information warfare against India. The continued ceasefire violations on the Line of Control are part of the same pattern.

In a fresh wave of cyber attacks, the websites of Army Public School Nagrota and Sunjuwan were targeted and attempts were made to deface them with messages on Pahalgam. Another website for ex-servicemen's healthcare services was also defaced. Furthermore, the Army Institute of Hotel Management's website was hacked and another domain directed at the welfare of Indian Air Force veterans were targets of continued Pakistani digital warfare.
