Pak polls will be free and fair, Musharraf assures Jemima

Jemima Khan, the estranged wife of cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan, was on Friday assured by President Pervez Musharraf that all arrangements for a free and fair general elections in Pakistan have been made.

ISLAMABAD: Jemima Khan, the estranged wife of cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan, was on Friday assured by President Pervez Musharraf that all arrangements for a free and fair general elections in Pakistan have been made.

Jemima, here as an election observer, interviewed Musharraf for a British publication.

She remained with Musharraf for some time and discussed matters pertaining to the general election on February 18.

The President told her that all arrangements had been made to hold free, fair and transparent elections, official sources said.

Jemima, who arrived here from Britain with her two sons on Monday, also writes columns for a British newspaper.

Imran Khan's Tehrik-e-Insaf party is boycotting next week's polls along with other members of the All Parties Democratic Movement.

In recent months, Jemima had organised protests in London against the emergency proclaimed by Musharraf and curbs imposed on the judiciary and media.
