P J Kurien faces a stumbling block in Hindi
Rajya Sabha deputy chairperson PJ Kurien has won appreciation from members for his efforts to converse in Hindi but he often gets the names wrong while running the House. Many members are amused when he refers to Minister of State for Finance Santosh Gangwar as ‘gang-war’. He kept referring to Congress leader Madhusudan Mistry as ‘Mishraji’ earlier this week. He corrected himself when the mistake was pointed out.




Cash crunch, go easy
While diplomatic missions in India are still grappling with cash crunch, including visa services, Modi government’s currency recall drive surely has made the life of travellers easy. The diplomatic mission of Egypt to India, which earlier used to accept visa fees only in cash, has launched a system to receive the money in either cash or demand draft, winning kudos from the Ministry of External Affairs.

Ministers in Metro
It is not every day that we see ministers in Delhi Metro. Recently, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar and MoS Fertiliser Mansukh Mandaviya took a Metro ride when they had to rush to Gurgaon to attend a function of Fertiliser Association of India. The ministers had little time in hand since the Parliament session had just adjourned. Both the ministers spontaneously boarded the Metro and reached on time.
