P Chidambaram may enter Rajya Sabha through Karnataka
NEW DELHI: Congress high command is planning to bring senior leader P Chidambaram, who did not contest the Lok Sabha election this time, into the Rajya Sabha from Karnataka next month.

The Congress president has already sounded out Karnataka Chief Minister Siddharamaih to work on a consensus among the Congress legislators on the name of Chidambaram, an informed Congress source told ET.

“Karnataka will elect four Rajya Sabha members in June. P Chidambaram could be one of the Congress nominees from the party quota,” a senior AICC functionary said. With 122 Congress MLAs, the ruling party will be in a position to ensure victory of three out of four candidates, sources said.

Also, there is suspense over IT guru Nandan Nilekani’s Rajya Sabha chances.
