NEW DELHI: Senior party leader and former Union minister P Chidambaram is among 27 members of the Tamil Nadu Pradesh Election Committee which was announced by the All -India Congress Committee today.

Besides PCC chief EVKS Elangovan, the committee also has several former Union ministers, including Mani Shankar Aiyar, R Prabhu, Sudarshana Natchiappan and KV Thangkabalu.

Congress is part of the DMK-led front in the poll-bound state and has been allotted 41 seats.

The Assembly has a total of 234 seats. Congress has for 50 years been out of power in the state whose politics has come to be dominated by Dravidian parties in recent decades.
