Over 93,000 new voters added in Himachal

Speaking at the state-level function on Fourth National Voter's day here, he called upon youth and other sections of the society to exercise their franchise.

SHIMLA: As many as 93,636 first-time voters have been added while names of 41,552 voters have been deleted during revision of electoral rolls in Himachal, Justice D D Sood of Himachal High Court today said.

Speaking at the state-level function on Fourth National Voter's day here, he called upon youth and other sections of the society to exercise their franchise.

"Voting is an effective tool to strengthen democracy and every citizen must vote to strengthen democracy and contribute to nation building," Justice Sood said.

Chief Electoral Officer Narinder Chauhan informed that Himachal Pradesh is one of the few states to have issued 100 per cent photo identity cards and added that the all 46.75 lakh voters in the state have been provided photo ID cards.

Voters Day was also observed in districts also.
