Over 9,000 minority people employed in government last year: Centre
As per the instructions by the Department of Personnel and Training, ministries are required to furnish the annual data on recruitment.

"For the year 2014-15, so far 45 ministries or departments have furnished the data. As per the available information, in 2014-15, a total of 9,328 or about 8.51 per cent of candidates recruited by these ministries or departments were from minority community," Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Jitendra Singh said in a written reply in Lok Sabha.
He said many ministries have not yet send their report in this regard despite the end of the deadline in this regard.
As per the instructions by the Department of Personnel and Training, ministries are required to furnish the annual data on recruitment of candidates belonging to minority communities for the year ending March 31, by April 30 of the following year, the Minister said.
In 2013-14, as per reports received from 74 ministries or departments, a total number of 1,28,964 or about 7.89 per cent of the total recruitments made were from minority communities, Singh said.
He said the Ministry of Minority Affairs implements 'Seekho aur Kamao', a scheme for placement linked skill development of minorities.
Further, a new organisation Maulana Azad National Academy for Skills (MANAS) has been established on November 11, 2014 as Special Purpose Vehicle for addressing all skill development needs of minority communities, to ensure provision of sustainable livelihoods to them, with emphasis on self-employment, the Minister said.
