Over 80,000 lawyers abstain from work in Bihar

The strike has been called to protest against alleged police brutalities on their colleagues in Jaipur and Chandigarh last week.

PATNA: Over 80,000 lawyers across Bihar stayed away from work today on the call of the Bar Council of India (BCI) for a long-day strike.

The strike has been called to protest against alleged police brutalities on their colleagues in Jaipur and Chandigarh last week.

Bihar Bar Council President Akhauri Mangala Charan Srivastava claimed the strike was a total success.

As many as 10,000 lawyers practising in Patna high court were among 80,000 lawyers who abstained from work.

No work could take place in any of the courts, including the Patna High Court, due to the day-long strike.
